Foundation‑Trained Labrador Programme (8–20 Weeks)

A Foundation‑Trained Labrador from Breckland Gundog Training has already completed the most important early learning period of its life. Between 8 and 20 weeks, pups absorb information rapidly, form habits, and develop the emotional stability that underpins all future gundog work.

Our programme builds calmness, control, confidence and retrieve desire — without pressure, without drilling, and without compromising the puppy’s natural enthusiasm.

What We Teach At Foundation Level

Early recall — whistle & Verbal Introduced
Lead basics — loose lead
Sit & stay — duration not distance
Retrieve/Play desire — fun, no pressure
Heelwork foundations — short sessions
Steadiness foundations — food, movement
Environmental exposure — surfaces, sounds
Short memory retrieves — simple lines
Marked retrieves intro — short grass
Delivery to hand basics — clean mouth
